Job Description:
GW Community School (GWCS) is a small, private, college-preparatory high school in Springfield, VA, that fosters a close-knit, supportive learning environment. We are seeking a responsible, energetic, and student-focused Teacher’s Assistant to work closely with our faculty and support high school students both in and outside the classroom.

This is a great opportunity for recent graduates interested in education, youth development, psychology, or related fields. The position includes approximately 35 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to help chaperone extracurricular events and school field trips.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers with classroom activities and student supervision

Support students with academic tasks in small group or individual settings

Help with grading, material prep, and light administrative work

Participate in school events, meetings, and occasional field trips

Serve as a positive role model and mentor to students

Help maintain an organized, inclusive, and respectful school environment

What We’re Looking For:

Associate’s degree or higher; recent graduates encouraged to apply

Experience working with youth (tutoring, camp counseling, mentoring, etc.)

Friendly, flexible, and eager to support both students and faculty

Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Comfort with basic technology 

Preferred but Not Required:

Coursework or degree in education, psychology, or a related field

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Interest in a future career in teaching or education
