About the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (IU Global)
The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Within IU Global, the Office of International Services (OIS) is dedicated to helping international students and scholars achieve their goals. Our staff recruit, admit, and enroll international students from all over the world. We provide social and cultural programming and visa- and immigration-related advising among other assistance to all international students and scholars. Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Files and uploads sensitive international documents.
- Processes incoming applications and supporting documents.
- Codes information sent for data entry; begins the process of creating applicant file.
- Provides administrative support to the Assistant Director of Documents and Process and the Shipping and Records Processor.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred
- Some college
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- Some prior experience in customer service, higher education, or related field
Preferred
- 1 year of experience working with a variety of correspondence and materials
SKILLS
Required
- Proficient communication skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Ability to maintain the privacy of confidential files
- Time management skills with ability to perform multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- Comfortable working with computers
- Promptness and dependable attendance
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals
Preferred
- Familiarity with 1 or more foreign languages helpful for this position's work with international documents and the international community
- Experience with university systems such as the Student Information System (SIS), SUNAPSIS, or comparable systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- International experience and/or familiarity with working with people from a variety of cultures
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
