Manufacturing Engineer
Role Description
We are looking for motivated Manufacturing Engineers passionate about deploying and scaling manufacturing systems. This is an exciting opportunity to design and build a new class of battery manufacturing. In this role, you will conceptualize, design, deploy and ramp various manufacturing stations & lines.
This work will include participating in hands-on trial builds, setting up workstations and training technicians at new production facilities. You’ll work with design engineers, supply chain, operations, safety, facilities, assemblers, and a host of other teams and outside suppliers and consultants. As we manufacture our products for the first time, expect a slew of surprise issues that will need rapid root cause investigation and resolution demanding critical thinking, persistence, and collaboration. This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA
What you'll do:
Own the build, purchase, and/or deployment of manufacturing workstations and equipment ranging from initial manual benchtop stations to highly automated systems.
You are responsible for designing and deploying your manufacturing equipment. From concept to hand over to operations.
Partner with the product design team to drive Design For Manufacturing (DFM) considerations.
Design and document robust processes/standard operating procedures capable of a high level of safety, uptime, and quality using engineering techniques and fundamentals
Assist in the debug and resolution of time-sensitive issues with manufacturing equipment and processes as they arise
Train individuals on new manufacturing equipment and processes
Work with a diversity of teams inside and outside the company to achieve overall manufacturing success
What you'll bring:
BS in Engineering; advanced degree is a plus but not required
0-4 years experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
1-3 years experience using 2D cad tools for line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
Experience purchasing and setting up manufacturing equipment
Experience working with design engineers and providing DFM feedback
