At O-School, we provide extraordinary educational and therapeutic services to students aged 8-22, many of whom face emotional disabilities or are on the autism spectrum. Responsibilities
As a One-to-One Aide, your primary role is to provide individualized support to students with emotional disabilities and/or autism. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting Instruction: Assist with lesson plans under the guidance of the Special Education teacher, adjusting strategies to meet the student's needs.
Promoting Engagement: Help create a positive, engaging, and self-motivating classroom environment that encourages social interaction.
Tracking Progress: Monitor and maintain records to support students' IEPs, ensuring accurate documentation.
Collaboration: Work closely with the teaching team, clinicians, and administrators to support students' academic and emotional progress.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required (preferably in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field).
Illinois State Certification, Type 39 (or the willingness to obtain within 90 days).
Experience working with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism (preferred).
Two years of experience working with emotionally disturbed students (preferred).
Strong commitment to empowering students and families.
Flexibility and a passion for innovative approaches to education.
Mental and Physical Demands
Mental: Ability to plan and implement lesson plans for students with emotional challenges, manage behaviors, and develop clear, accurate reports.
Physical: Ability to lift at least 20 pounds and occasionally move light items. Must be able to supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
