Analytical Chemist

Airswift is seeking an Analytical Chemist to work in Chesterfield, MO, for a 6-month assignment. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member with a strong Analytical Chemistry-related background relevant to the analysis of agrochemical formulations and products. This individual will perform routine and non-routine analyses of active ingredients in liquid and solid formulations using HPLC/UPLC/LC-MS/GC-based techniques. 

The candidate needs to be able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing analytical/scientific situations, and possess strong communication skills and a passion for developing new skillsets. The candidate will join the Formulations Analytics Core Team (that works within the Analytical Sciences Program) to support active ingredients analyses within R&D formulations and products.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of the chemical and physical properties of diverse organic compounds to investigate their behavior in agrochemical formulations in support of our client’s R&D pipeline and products.
  • Apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a high-throughput analytical chemistry laboratory environment.
  • Performs routine and non-routine benchtop analytical tasks as requested by diverse customers/stakeholders.
  • Develop methods for determining chemical composition and concentrations of analytes present in agrochemical formulations/products and related sample matrices using HPLC/UPLC/LCMS/GC to support our client1s Science R&D pipeline and existing products.
  • Respond to collaborator/partner inquiries and analytical/data troubleshooting/reporting requests in a timely manner.
  • Be meticulous in their approach to analytical work and data quality.
  • Prepare complex liquid and solid matrices for qualitative and quantitative analyses.
  • Optimize and develop new sample preparation and analytical methods in support of the R&D pipeline and existing products.
  • Lead efforts to develop new analytical methods and improve existing methods.
  • Write reports and interpret and report analytical results to diverse stakeholders, representing early R&D to manufacturing and product supply.

Education/Experience: 

  • BS in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience and demonstrated proficiency in preparing complex agrochemical sample matrices for analysis with HPLC/UPLC/LCMS/GC.
  • Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience with sample preparation and method development for chemical samples.
  • Experience with various sample cleanup techniques to enrich active ingredients in chemical samples.
  • Experience with robotic sample preparation is desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Timely, intelligent communications with customers/stakeholders are crucial.
  • Flexible and able to respond quickly to rapidly shifting analytical priorities.
