Industrial Supervisor, Fabric (Apparel Manufacturing / Production)

This job is focused in apparel manufacturing / production

Under the direction of the Prison Industries Superintendent II, (Fabric Products), the incumbent is responsible for the supervision of incarcerated individual workers engaged in the production of Fabric Products. Employees will have regular and substantial contact with persons incarcerated in California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions and/or medical facilities.

The CALPIA Fabric program is designed to meet California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutional needs statewide. You will train and mentor incarcerated individuals who will gain knowledge and skills needed to meet the highest possible standards for Fabric and increase their chances for employment opportunities upon release.

***This position is located inside California Men's Colony, San Luis Obispo***

Minimum qualifications: 2 years of production experience

  • Experience in and ability to demonstrate the construction process of a garment or like product
  • Experience in reading instructions and/or plans to construct a garment or fabric product
  • Education in the fabric products/garment industrial operation
  • Experience in an industrial and/or commercial sewing environment. 
  • Previous CALPIA/CDCR employment
